Mesa Arts Center's Mobile Art Based Engagement Lab, MABEL, takes community engagement on the road! MABEL is an adaptable and flexible creative space and pop-up arts center on wheels with activities meant to create connections on the spot, prompt discussion, catalyze change and spark creativity through the arts. MABEL was created as a result of community discussions and is a key Mesa Arts Center Engagement program.
MABEL requests are reviewed prior to Fall and Spring seasons until capacity is reached. A minimum of one month’s notice is required for consideration, but due to high demand, we recommend submitting requests further in advance. We typically book six months ahead and encourage early planning to secure availability.

MABEL Artist Opportunities
This is a special opportunity to collaborate with MABEL and MesaMoves (MesaMoves is dedicated to safety education and encourages active transportation choices in Mesa through the development of well-connected routes.) To provide a fun and informational zine+ to the public. We have ages 6-16 in mind but would like for it to be approachable to all ages. We will be informing on the topic road safety. We currently have two zine projects that we are seeking assistance and full collaboration on. This project will have partial creative liberties.
This opportunity will become a Zine+. Meaning that there will be zines, books and stickers from this project. The fully published book will live inside the libraries in downtown Mesa. The Zine will live inside of MABEL year-round, as well as the stickers (1 for each character = 4 total) of the characters developed for the book/zine.
