Simulating a fictitious museum that showcases historical artifacts, Steve Gompf creates “vintage televisions” from what he calls the “Televisor Era 1884-1928.” Gompf’s mixed media sculptures are comprised of found objects that appear to be authentic examples of early transmission technology. On the screens, Gompf plays digitally manipulated and reanimated photographic motion studies by Eadweard Muybridge.
