Field Studies is inspired by collective experiences, perceptions of surroundings, and the passage of time. Working in layers, Mayer composes and interprets currents events, examines language through typography breaking down meaning into essential elements, and pushes the process of the artist’s book as visual landscape. Atmospheric rivers, surfaces, the changing climate, and cycles are captured in altered topographic maps, landscape accordion books, and luminous glass.
