Ceramics

Art Studios online classes include four pre-recorded sessions that will be released weekly to class registrants. Class experiences are roughly one hour each week. Students should plan to pause during the lesson to move through the process led by the teacher.

Students will also have the opportunity to meet virtually via Zoom for one hour on a weekly basis with their classmates and teacher to review their work and ask questions. Class release dates and scheduled virtual meeting times are listed within each class description below. Please note: class viewing will be available for one week after the last class date.

Please be sure to check your email for a message from our Box Office with both the Vimeo link and password for how to watch the pre-recorded video and the Zoom links to join the weekly calls, sent 3 - 7 days before the start date of your online class. If you’re still having trouble accessing your classes? In this 4-week online class students will explore the exciting world of Majolica and low-fire surface techniques. Majolica is a beautiful glazing technique for potters who want to treat their surfaces like a canvas. Majolica allows you to put colorful imagery on pottery; it lets you glaze like a painter as well as using other techniques that involve no painterly skills. In this class students will be provided with bisque ware ready to paint. At the end of this 4-week course students will need to make appointments with Ceramics Studio Lead Jesse Armstrong to bring artwork back to the ceramics studio for a glaze firing, included with the cost of the class.
