MAC Hearts Volunteers

April 15, 2022

This week is National Volunteer Week (April 17-23, 2022) and is an opportunity to recognize the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, build stronger communities and be a force that transforms the world. Each year, we shine a light on the people and causes that inspire us to serve, recognizing and thanking volunteers who lend their time, talent and voice to make a difference in their communities.

We are shouting from the Mesa Arts Center rooftops: Thank You!  to all our Mesa Arts Center volunteers. Thank YOU for generously sharing your time, talents and dedication!

In honor of National Volunteer Week, we’re spotlighting a few of our volunteers and posting their favorite parts of volunteering at MAC.

Bob and G O’Brien have been volunteering with Mesa Arts Center since it opened in 2005!

We love meeting, greeting and working with the amazing guests, staff, performers and artists who make up the Mesa Arts Center community.

Debbie Dutra has been volunteering with Mesa Arts Center for four years!

My favorite part of volunteering is helping people, no matter their age, realize that “Art” is self-gratifying! Seeing the joy on someone’s face knowing they creating something pleasing is amazing!

Jo Ferguson has been volunteering with Mesa Arts Center since it opened in 2005!

I enjoy all my volunteer activities, especially the opportunity to remain involved and contribute to the community, and there's the added bonus of meeting so many great people, (patrons, Arts Center staff, and other volunteers).

Chris Sjue has been volunteering with Mesa Arts Center for over two years!

What I like most about volunteering at the MAC is interacting with the artists and patrons I have met.  It has been an interesting and rewarding experience.

Mary Coolman has been volunteering with Mesa Arts Center for seven years!

Mary enjoys the experience of being an usher because it is a great way to be a part of and give to the community.  She says, “each time I’m here I enjoy working together with the other volunteers to assist the people who come to our shows, and I always leave with a happy, positive feeling”.

Georgene DeWitte has been a Mesa Arts Center volunteer for over seven years!

I enjoy ushering because I get to see so many wonderful performances—concerts, plays, music and dancing of all kinds.  My favorite part of volunteering at festivals and special events is helping children make craft items they can take home to remember the day.

Kay Dubois has been volunteering with Mesa Arts Center for over two years!

Ushering a variety of shows has been a joy and a learning experience...even the patrons are very courteous and thank us for serving!

Many thanks to the MAC staff who treat the volunteers as VIPs and constantly encourage and thank us.  I have been blessed to serve in such an interesting and stimulating environment.

Lynn Adams has been volunteering with Mesa Arts Center since it opened in 2005!

As a resident of Mesa, I am very proud that Mesa has such a fine facility as the MAC.  My favorite part about volunteering with the Mesa Arts Center is the opportunity to work with the public as well as the many friendships that have evolved with other volunteers.
