Happy Arts in Education Week!

September 17, 2021

The arts are incredibly important to the well-being of everyone in our community. We are proud to offer a plethora of arts classes that cater to so many people’s needs. With our state-of-the-art facility, we feature 14 custom designed art studios in performing, visual and literary arts!

See below to learn more about all the classes we offer!

Adult (16+) Classes

Our adult classes are available to those 16 years and up. We offer classes in ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, glass, jewelry & metals, sculpture, movement classes such as yoga and dance, photography and theater. An array of styles and subgenres can be found in each one of these mediums with classes ranging from a weekend workshop to a multiple week course!

If you have never taken a class at Mesa Arts Center or don’t want a long art class commitment, we offer Hack the MAC events, which are designed to give you an introduction to our art studio classes. Learn about a particular medium and create a piece of art that you can take home the very same day!

Youth Classes

Youth classes are available to kids 4 to 18 years old. Same as our adult classes, youth classes, camps and workshops are offered in a wide variety of mediums including, ceramics, painting & drawing, printmaking, glass, movement and theater. With so many options offered at Mesa Arts Center, you can give your child the opportunity to discover their passion for the arts!

Creative Aging

Our Creative Aging program seek to uplift creative expression for older adults. These classes include Dance for PD, a program designed for adults living with Parkinson’s Disease and their caregiver. Through incremental steps each week, participants will build skills and confidence. Due to Covid-19, Dance for PD classes are currently only offered online. Other movement classes include Chair Yoga and Mature Moving Me.

Our Arts in Mind program provides free 4-week arts engagements for adults living with mild to moderate dementia. Developed in partnership with Banner Alzheimer's Institute, Arts in Mind provides adults living with dementia and their care partner to create art, find community and be well.

If you are a caregiver of a loved one living with dementia, come and take our Caregiver Samplers classes! Offered in the fall and spring, Caregiver Samplers promote self-care, self-compassion and to provide creative outlets to connect with other caregivers.

Arts in Service

Arts in Service provides veterans and service members with free arts classes to give creative experiences that will further your personal goals. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Project Lit

Project Lit uses poetry, spoken word and hip hop to promote literacy and activate emotional learning with young and emerging adults. These workshops create a brave space that allows students to embrace discomfort while exploring their emotions, thoughts and feelings.

Classical Music Inside Out

In our Classical Music Inside Out program, Zuill Bailey, Grammy award-winning cellist and Guest Artistic Director, leads “informances” that provide a dynamic Concert 101 experience for students. Zuill Bailey engagements will be virtual for the 2021-2022 season.
