This introductory Art History course, with KarNa Swirlbul, explores how Renaissance artists drew inspiration from Greek and Roman antiquity. Students will examine how the fusion of Classical ideals with Sacred (religious) and Secular (worldly) themes led to a transformative focus on realism, emotion, and the human form. Students are permitted to use their cell phone to photograph slides but are not permitted to video tape in the classroom. Students are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen or pencil to take notes as well.
