Mesa Arts Center Policies

Safety and Security Policies

All persons and items entering the Mesa Arts Center are subject to search. Mesa Arts Center management reserves the right to refuse any item deemed a potential safety or security risk or with the potential to be a distraction to the event being held.
 
Screenings will be performed by trained professional contracted security staff and may include, but are not limited to:

  • Visual screening
  • Bag, case, coat, and hat screenings
  • Hand-held magnetometers
  • Walk-through magnetometers and/or threat detection systems

 
Mesa Arts Center Theater Events Bag Policy

  • Clear Plastic, Vinyl, or PVC Bags (Max Size 12” x 6” x 12”)
  • Small Bag/Clutch Approximately the size of a Folded Piece of Letter Paper (Max Size 8.5” x 5.5”)


​​​​​​​Prohibited Items

FOR EVERYONE’S ENJOYMENT AND SAFETY, THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE NOT PERMITTED:

  • Outside Food or Beverage including alcohol
  • Illegal Substances and paraphernalia
  • Weapons of Any Kind including firearms, knives, tasers, etc.
  • Fireworks or incendiary devices of any kind
  • Harmful chemicals such as mace, pepper spray, etc.
  • Posters or large signs (larger than 8.5” x 11”)
  • Professional Cameras / Audio Recording Devices
  • Laser pointers
  • Balloons, Silly String, Selfie Sticks
  • Airhorns, vuvuzelas, or other noise makers
  • Bags, Purses, or Backpacks That Do Not Adhere to the Mesa Arts Center Bag Policy
  • Animals that do not provide a service or task as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • No professional cameras, flash cameras, or recording devices are allowed in the theaters. Additional restrictions may apply. 

 
*There is no on-site storage for unauthorized bags or items.  Please do not bring any of the above-listed prohibited items with you.
 
The following items are permitted:

  • 2 Sealed Bottles of Water per Person, up to 20 oz.
  • Bags that adhere to the Mesa Arts Center Bag Policy

 
The following exceptions will be made after a proper inspection for:

  • Diaper bags
  • Oversized medically necessary items
  • Equipment of media outlets by Mesa Arts Center Staff

Photographer/Videographer Campus Policy

Family photos are welcomed and approved without prior notice. However, any professional photo shoots or filming activities require prior approval from our Event Services team. We have a vibrant, active campus and respect of others and Mesa Arts Center activities is required. This ensures that all professional activities are coordinated and do not interfere with the enjoyment and safety of all our visitors.

To request approval for professional photo shoots or filming, please contact our Event Services team at 480-644-6589 or Rentals@mesaartscenter.com. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure that the experience at Mesa Arts Center theaters remains safe and enjoyable for all. We aim to create an environment that promotes creativity, collaboration and inclusivity. This Code of Conduct applies to all patrons, artists, staff and volunteers.

If anyone behaves disrespectfully, inappropriately, or does not adhere to our Code of Conduct, we reserve the right to immediately remove them without refund (if applicable) and/or trespass them, which may result in a ban from future performances, classes and events at Mesa Arts Center.

Mesa Arts Center requires that all theater attendees:

  • Show Respect: Treat all individuals with respect, kindness and consideration. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any form of harassment, discrimination, intimidation, racism, sexism or otherwise targeted comments.
  • Use Appropriate Language: Offensive, discriminatory, threatening, abusive or disrespectful language is not tolerated.
  • Maintain Appropriate Noise Levels: Keep noise levels appropriate to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone. Avoid loud talking or disturbances during performances.
  • Sit In Assigned Seats: For ticketed performances, sit only in your assigned seat unless directed otherwise by staff.
  • Do Not Bring Prohibited Items: This includes, but is not limited to, outside food and beverage, weapons, mace or pepper spray, airhorns, and balloons into the theater. For a complete list of items, please see mesaartscenter.com/safetyandsecurity
  • No Smoking of Vaping: Do not smoke or vape except in designated or approved areas. 
  • Use Mobile Devices Mindfully: Always be considerate of artists and fellow patrons when using your mobile device during a show. Some events at Mesa Arts Center strictly forbid the use of any recording devices. If an artist requests no photography or video recording, an announcement will be made before the show and signs will be clearly posted at all theater entrances.
  • Follow Posted Instructions: Adhere to all directions and instructions posted on signage at Mesa Art Center and provided by theater staff.
  • Treat Mesa Arts Center’s Property with Care: Vandalism, theft or damage to property is strictly prohibited.
  • Adhere to Alcohol Regulations: Patrons under the age of 21 are not permitted to consume any alcohol in accordance with [A.R.S. 4-244(9,16)].
  • Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a respectful and enjoyable environment at the Mesa Arts Center.
