In this workshop, artists will work from a live model while learning time-tested techniques. Using drawing media, we’ll focus on building a strong foundation in observation, proportion, and form. You’ll be guided through key concepts including simplifying the head into clear, manageable shapes; Using plumb lines and angles to help with proportion; Understanding light and shadow to create depth; Developing a portrait step-by-step in a clear, approachable way. The session begins with a live demonstration, where you can watch the process unfold from the first marks to developing structure. Afterward, you’ll have time to draw from the model yourself in a relaxed, supportive studio setting. Whether you’re new to portrait drawing or looking to strengthen your skills, this workshop offers a welcoming space to learn classical techniques and grow your confidence.
