This workshop is for belly dancers that are beyond beginning to advance level

In this 4 week workshop we will work on technique in our dance. We will cover upper body, hips, arms and transitions. Week 1 - Upper Body and Hips - class will work on smooth ooey gooey moves to pops and locks in both the upper body and hips. Week 2 - Layering and Isolations - class will work on isolations in both the upper body and hips before layering shimmy's on top and blending moves together. Once we have the isolation and shimmy going we will layer on foot work, arms and head to take our layering from head to toe. Week 3 - Arms and hands - arms frame the area of the dancer and will draw the audience to the dancer’s movements. The hands and arms can also show emotion the dancer is portraying in her dance and music. They are what you might say are the icing on the cake in our dance. Arms are powerful and can add so much to your performance. This class includes arm movements but a lot more. Learn arm concepts to enhance your dance and dance with feeling. Week 4 - Transitions - We will work on smoothly moving between different moves and combinations, creating a more fluid and engaging performance. We will cover techniques like weight shifting, arm and leg positioning, and incorporating isolations to make transitions seamless.

Our mission is to make the art studio classrooms a space for relaxation, enjoyment, discovery and learning. To help aid in that pursuit, the studios department has employed the use of sensory kits available to all students in any class. Upon request to your instructor, a variety of sensory and stress-relieving items will be provided in class.

Additionally, enChroma glasses are available for youth, teens and adults in any of the studio programs. If you struggle with color blindness, consider requesting use of these glasses in your next class!
