Q: I have never drawn or painted. Are there classes where I can start as a complete beginner?
A: Yes, a variety of classes are offered with the complete novice in mind where competence leads to confidence.
Q: I have taken other classes where instructors never demonstrate. Will there be demonstrations to supplement lecture?
A: Yes. Class-wide demonstrations can be expected in the beginning watercolor and oil painting classes. In many of the continuing classes one-on-one demonstrations are offered.
Q: I have never painted in a group setting. Will I feel comfortable?
A: Yes. Our low-keyed approach to instruction creates a helpful atmosphere where students can paint comfortably while receiving supportive instructions and criticism.
Q: I have been painting for a while and have taken instruction at other facilities. Can I continue to develop my theme and technique without having a style or technique imposed on me?
A: Classes such as the oil and acrylic or watercolor- expanding present skills are classes where students are encouraged to build on their base and a personal direction is highly encouraged.
Q: Will I receive objective and straightforward criticism?
A: Yes. Student’s progress is constantly reinforced yet part of each painter’s growth comes from recognizing flaws in their work.
Q: I am becoming more serious about my painting. Can I learn how to take my work to the next step?
A: For those with greater aspirations guidance is available in entering work in art competitions, how to approach an art gallery, and how to market and sell your work.
