CELEBRATING MESA ARTS CENTER'S VOLUNTEERS

April 24, 2024

As National Volunteer Week unfolds, we're thrilled to honor Mesa Arts Center's remarkable volunteers. They are the heartbeat of our community, infusing every corner with passion and dedication. From guiding visitors to igniting imaginations, their contributions enrich our cultural landscape. To our volunteers, past and present, we extend our deepest gratitude — thank you!

Kayanne Andersen, volunteer since 2022

There are many parts of being a volunteer that I enjoy, but my favorite part has been having the opportunity to meet so many different people. I also enjoy all the various shows that I get to see as an usher. Mesa Arts Center brings in so many amazing performances.

Curt Baxter, volunteer since 2008

My favorite part about volunteering is interacting with the patrons, especially first-time visitors. It is a real treat to show off Mesa Arts Center and see the WOW factor on their faces!

Susan Garr, volunteer since 2021

My favorite part about volunteering is getting to watch the shows and when the patrons thank me for my service. I feel that is very kind of them.

Marsha Harvey, volunteer since 2022

My favorite shows are the children’s shows, especially school shows for the students! I also enjoy the opportunity to keep my friendships with the other volunteers (and staff) that have been part of my life since Mesa Arts Center opened in 2005!

Liz Hawkes, volunteer since 2005

I serve as a Store Assistant in the Store and usher for the theaters. Helping our guests have an amazing experience is my favorite task!

Ellie Nellemann, volunteer since 2005

Ellie’s favorite part about volunteering is watching the faces of patrons and hearing their positive comments when they enter or leave the theaters or Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum, especially from those Mesa residents who never knew Mesa Arts Center was here!

Maria Schauer, volunteer since 2008

I enjoy ushering, assisting with classes and participating with special events.  My favorite thing about volunteering is the interaction between myself and other volunteers and patrons.

Lorraine Snyder, volunteer since 2005

Lorrainne’s favorite part about volunteering is seeing different shows, meeting great people, forming great friendships and especially interacting with the patrons and fellow ushers.

Susan Swanson, volunteer since 2019

I volunteer as a Store Assistant, and I love getting to know the artists and hearing about each artist’s creative process!

Ella Thompson, volunteer since 2006

I enjoy visiting and working with the other volunteers, meeting new volunteers, helping patrons that have never been to Mesa Arts Center and watching the reaction of the young children that come to the children's shows for the first time!

Kim Zeman, volunteer since 2019

My favorite part about volunteering at Mesa Arts Center is the opportunity it affords me to experience many different entertainment iterations - many outside my normal scope of interests. I enjoy chatting with all the other volunteers and have met some really nice people in the volunteer ranks.
