About Mesa Arts Center
The Mesa Arts Center is a unique, architecturally stunning facility located in the very heart of downtown Mesa, Arizona at the southeast corner of Main and Center Streets. The Center's seven-acre campus encompasses four theaters of varying sizes and configurations, five art galleries, 14 art studios and classrooms, administrative offices, conference rooms, and a 700-foot long outdoor Shadow Walk that bisects the campus and serves as a community gather place for festivals, concerts, and events.
The Mesa Arts Center operated from 1980 to 2005 within a retro-fitted elementary school three blocks north of its current site. In 2005, construction of the new MAC was completed and all existing programs and staff moved to the current location.
Our primary goal in designing the new Center was to encourage visitors to learn about, and participate in, all of the various arts activities we have here. We want theater-goers to become curious about arts classes that are happening across the campus, we want art students to visit our contemporary art galleries to see professional work in a gorgeous setting, and we want those gallery attendees to find out about the marvelous entertainment going on inside the theaters. Things are happening that appeal to all ages, all skill levels, all artistic interests.
