Whether you’ve been to every Spark! After Dark or you’ve literally never heard of it, you’re going to want to tune in to this month’s festivities. Spark! After Dark is an event that takes place on the MAC campus and brings together all sorts of cool creative types; we’ve got music, visual art, projects, technology, all the things. But this time around, we’re really looking to step it up and bring in a broader audience.
This month’s theme is Indie. I know what you’re thinking...“Whoa, what does that even mean, it sounds so cool and mysterious!!” And you’re totally right. The true definition of “indie” is something that doesn’t belong under any definition of sound, appearance, or vibe. It’s a whole new vibe of it’s own. So with this month’s Spark! After Dark event happening on April 15th from 8-11pm, we sought out to create that vibe.
Let’s talk about the music. I can’t stress how much this show is going to rock. For our concert opener (in the 8-9pm set) we are tagging in local indie band Mt. Mural. They’ve got a very cool sound that will start the night with a bang. Get a flavor of their sound here! We are super excited to announce our headliners coming in all the way from New York, Bailen! This dynamic group has been getting a lot of traction lately and we are so excited to be a part of their tour.
We are also doing things a little differently this month and invite you to keep the party going and join us at Oro Brewing Company for an after party from 11pm-midnight. This is a cool chance to meet and greet with the bands, have a beer, and listen to more music by local singer/songwriter Kyle Phelan. Oro is staying open late just for us, so definitely plan on being there to chill with everyone!
Aside from music, spark! After Dark will offer some awesome interactive technology and music installations, henna artists, and other cool things to explore. You will definitely not want to miss this night -- the Creative Catalysts team took a huge part in planning the event and we are really excited to be a part of it!
