Krishna Das and Deva Premal & Miten
Co-Headline a Chant Super-Tour
And announce 2010 Album Releases
Deva Premal and Miten have been dubbed the "Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash of Chant" by Yoga Journal. Together with Krishna Das they are creating an extraordinary series of concerts across the US, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, DC, Seattle, San Francisco, Boston, and Dallas, highlighting the newfound popularity of kirtan and mantra chanting. These musicians, who have enjoyed a worldwide grass-roots success the past decade, are each celebrating the release of new albums with their first co-headlined tour.
Krishna Das has been called the "Chant Master of American Yoga" by the New York Times.
Krishna Das is one of the best-selling chant artist of all time, with over 300,000 records sold. Notable for making yoga and chant music more accessible to Western listeners, his music layers traditional kirtan - chanting the divine names - over popular arrangements and songs. Krishna Das has toured extensively through North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and South America, and counts Madonna and Mike D of the Beastie Boys amongst his fans.
Deva Premal & Miten are living proof that mantras are as relevant today as they were thousands of years ago.
This couple, in both life and music, tour regularly through North and South America, Asia, Europe and Australia and have sold an incredible 900,000 albums worldwide.
They have received accolades from His Holiness the Dalai Lama ("Šbeautiful musicŠ!"), Cher (Šmy favorite album for YogaŠ"), Anthony Robbins ("Špassionate, powerful works of loveŠ") and Eckhart Tolle ("Štheir music is pure magicŠ").
Krishna Das will release Heart As Wide As The World, his first studio album in ten years, in 2010. The album is a collaboration with David Nichtern ("Midnight at the Oasis") and features musicians like Jerry Marotta (Hall & Oates, Peter Gabriel) on drums, and world musicians Steve Gorn on bansuri flute and Benjy Wertheimer on esraj, amongst an array of other instruments.
Deva Premal & Miten are releasing their CD/DVD Live In Concert which features the duo in concert in Byron Bay, Australia, accompanied by Nepalese bansuri maestro, Manose, who joins them on tour.
