MESA CONTEMPORARY ARTS (MCA) FALL EXHIBITIONS

 

Best of Arizona Watercolors Association

December 16 – April 8

Founded in 1960, the Arizona Watercolor Association (AWA) is comprised of artists and instructors, whose influence and prestige extends beyond our state’s boarders. Fueled by the energy of enthusiastic members, the AWA actively elevates the Fine Art of Watercolors to new heights and serves as an advocate, promoting this historical form of painting. This exhibition highlights some of the artistry of 35 local watercolorists.

 

 

Shadow Kansas

Jeff Falk

January 13 – May 6

Arizona artist Jeff Falk’s reflects on his experiences growing up in Kansas. Vintage toys and imagery associated with childhood have often manifested themselves in his work, and in this exhibition, Falk fully explores the “shadows” that remain in his memory.

 

 

33rd Annual Contemporary Crafts

January 27 – March 18

Highlighting the finest in contemporary crafts from across the country, Mesa Contemporary Arts’ Annual Contemporary Crafts exhibition has become a benchmark for innovation and quality. Artwork featured in this exhibition is representative of traditional craft mediums including ceramics, fibers, basketry, metals, wood, glass, jewelry, papermaking and book arts.

 

 

Unexpired Time

January 27 – March 18

An accumulation of things predestined to disappear or go unnoticed, Unexpired Time is an exhibition of photographs, video and commonplace objects that mark presence without identity.  Items such as parking meters, keys and coins are collected, translated or transformed to function as tools for measurement and elicit a reconsideration of everyday routines.

Experience amazing and unique events, family activities, entertainment, food and more at this celebration of creativity and innovations. Spring Break has never been this exciting. If you visited or heard about AMOCOCO, Architects-of-Air’s incredible giant inflatable sculpture, which visited Mesa last March, you know you won’t want to miss MIRAZOZO!  Based on the same design principles, but with different shapes and patterns, MIRAZOZO is an incredible experience—for $5 only it is like walking inside a work of stained glass.

 

 

Mesa Arts and Culture Festival (MACFest)

March 10 & 17, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  

Mesa Arts and Culture Festival (MACFest) is a free event featuring unique artist creations, music, and fun for the whole family in downtown Mesa.

  

ART STUDIOS

MAC STORE 

The new Artists Cooperative Gallery at the Mesa Arts Center has been busy creating more-than-amazing art since opening its doors to the public in Sept 2011.  Building on a greater connection with the local community, the store is staffed by the same local artists who produce the broad range of fine mediums, from artisan glass and tapestry, to paintings and sculptures.  Visiting the store, you may easily find the perfect gift for someone or for your home.  Enjoy meeting a local artist during the scheduled in-store artist demonstrations.  For store hours call 480.644.6515.
